I think these work a lot better then standard oven mitts or hot pads. I feel like my hand and wrist are more protected, and that makes me feel better about my pre-teen getting things out of the oven as well. I do feel like I have a better grip on whatever it is I'm trying to move. As for heat transfer I'd say it's about the same length of time as standard oven mitts. *Glove clip sold separately*
